Our focus is difficult-to-treat hospital-based infections.   In the United States alone, over eight million people are hospitalized with bacterial infections each year, accounting for greater than 90 million days  of therapy. Many of these infections are serious and extremely difficult to treat.  Additionally, of great concern to health care professionals is the fact that life-threatening microbes have developed resistant strains that no longer respond to any of the available antibiotics.
